Doctor's Daybook and Ledger, 1881 - 1890
This book contains the handwritten records of Caldwell area patients of Dr. Charles Robinson Hume between 1881 and 1890. It includes dates and brief notes on visits & calls, treatment and billing.
To find a specific patient name, look in Section 1. Patient names are listed in the order of their first treatment, along with the page number(s) of the patient record. Open the section containing that page and browse to find the record.
Patient records include general information on the date of service, occasionally including notes on the condition or treatment, and charges. "Accouchement" refers to childbirth, and the baby's gender is noted. Payment is listed, and may be "Cash" or some other form of compensation, and any discount is noted.
The ledger was donated to the Caldwell Public Library by Dr. Hume's son Carleton Ross Hume in 1950.
